Electromagnetic Fields

Electromagnetic Fields of all frequencies represent one of the most common and fastest growing environmental influences, about which anxiety and speculation are spreading. All populations are now exposed to varying degrees of EMF, and the levels will continue to increase as technology advances. EMF we are referring to are in the low frequency spectrum  and range from 0 to 10 KHz .

Electromagnetic radiation has been around since the birth of the universe; light is its most familiar form. However, during the 20th century, environmental exposure to man-made electromagnetic fields has been steadily increasing as growing electricity demand, ever-advancing technologies and changes in social behavior have created more and more artificial sources. Electric and magnetic fields are part of the spectrum of electromagnetic radiation which extends from static electric and magnetic fields, through radiofrequency and infrared radiation, to X-rays.

There is no question that human safety is an issue concerning the various types of EMF. Industry standards published by NCRM indicate the levels for continuous exposure deemed still to be safe for human safety however more stringent guidelines have been published suggesting EMF exposure may be more of a health concern than earlier believed. See “Possible effects of Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) on Human Health” published by the European Commission;

 http://ec.europa.eu/health/ph_risk/committees/04_scenihr/docs/scenihr_o_007.pdf.

In addition to health issues, high levels of EMF will have disastrous effects on computer equipment, servers, CRT screens, medical equipment and other electronic devices. The results can be anything from shaky monitor screens to intermittent and unexplained failures. Electronic magnetic frequencies are all around us. In office buildings the frequencies can be generated by high power lines, transformers, UPS equipment and high voltage switch gear and these sources may be hidden in walls or behind doors where no one is suspect.

Since EMF can not be seen, felt or smelled; identification requires a specialist. Data Clean has the equipment and expertise to isolate, identify and resolve any EMF issues you may have in your facility. An EMF audit does not require any downtime to your facility and can be completed in a few hours. Call Data Clean for additional information and to arrange an EMF audit of your data center, office or building
